Administrative review update
by Cathy Sandeen, ¿ìÓ¯v3 Chancellor |
Dear ¿ìÓ¯v3 Community,
As promised in my Jan. 14 message, ¿ìÓ¯v3's administrative review process is now underway. Today, administrative area leaders received a questionnaire for completion by Wednesday, Feb. 26. The timeline for these administrative reviews can be found on the Administrative Review website, along with FAQs and other details. As part of the administrative review process, the ¿ìÓ¯v3 Campus Planning Advisory Board (CPAB) will provide input to me and my cabinet.
As you may recall, in October 2019 the University of Alaska Board of Regents charged the universities to conduct expedited program reviews to meet the new fiscal reality of a $70 million state budget cut to the university system over a three-year period. This cut influenced the board to direct ¿ìÓ¯v3 to consolidate programs and services quickly to meet our share of the fiscal year ’21 reduction. The ¿ìÓ¯v3 leadership team will work diligently to chart ¿ìÓ¯v3's best path forward, despite these challenging fiscal circumstances.
I will give the recommendations that emerge from this administrative review process due consideration before I submit recommendations to President Johnsen and the Board of Regents for any changes to ¿ìÓ¯v3 academic programs. March 23, 2020, is the date anticipated for both academic and administrative recommendations to move forward.
As always, I will communicate every step along the way. Please feel free to send your questions and/or comments to uaaadminreviews@alaska.edu.
Sincerely,
Cathy Sandeen
¿ìÓ¯v3 Chancellor
